Yin and Yang... A symbol that everyone must have seen somewhere or other. Some know what it represent some dont. Well let me try and on this symbol that has facinated me for some time now.
Yin and yang is a concept from the ancient chinese philosophy. The above symbol is a simple representation of this theory. Yin stands for the black part and yang is the white. The entire circle represents everything. Within the circle we see the interaction of the two energies, Yin and yang, and its this interaction that results in whatever happens around. The most interesting thing to notice is that, neither yin is completely black nor yang is completely white. The two small white and black circles within yin and yang says that either arnt completely just they way they are ... but each share a part of each other.
While "yin" would be dark, passive, downward, cold, contracting, and weak, "yang" would be bright, active, upward, hot, expanding, and strong. The shape of the yin and yang sections of the symbol, actually gives you a sense of the continual movement of these two energies, yin to yang and yang to yin, causing everything to happen. While yang represents the calm and peaceful side, yin stand for all the confusion and turmoil.
This concept has been extended to explain about anything that can be seen around you.
May it be seasons, climate, natural disastors, human emotions, personality of a person.. and even to a relationship.
